Instructions For Authors

PAPER REGULATIONS

The Board of Editors accept for publication original research papers concerning allergology. Also included are letters to the Board of Editors, reports and materials from scientific conferences, book reviews and information on future congresses and conferences.

The Board of Editors endorse the principles embodied in Declaration of Helsinki and also Interdisciplinary Principles and Guidelines for the Use of animals in research, Testing, and Education issued by the New York Academy Research. All human and animal studies should be conducted according to ethical rules.

REVIEW PROCESS.

Manuscripts are evaluated on the basis that they present new insights to the investigation topic, are likely to contribute a research process or change in clinical practice. Manuscripts with insufficient priority for publication are rejected promptly. Incomplete manuscripts not prepared in the advised style will be sent back to authors without scientific review. The manuscripts are registered and sent to independent experts for evaluation. Submitted papers are accepted for publication after a positive opinion of the independent reviewers.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST.

Authors of research articles should disclose at the time of submission any financial arrangement they may have with a company whose product figures prominently in the submitted manuscript or with a company making a competing product. Such information will be held in confidence while the paper is under review and will not influence on the editorial decision.

PERMISSIONS.

Materials taken from the sources must be accompanied by a written statement from both author and publisher giving permission to the Journal for reproduction. If it is possible to identify a patient from a case report, illustration or paper there should be given a written permission for publishing.

DISCLAIMER.

Every effort is made by the Publisher and the editorial Board that no inaccurate or misleading data, opinion or statement appear in the paper. However, they wish to make it clear that the data and opinions appearing in the articles and advertisements herein are the responsibility of the contributor, sponsor or advertiser concerned. The Editors reserve the right to correct and abbreviate the text /without the author’s approval/.

PREPARATION FOR MANUSCRIPT.

Guidelines for submission are in accordance with ``Uniform Requirements for Manuscript Submitted to Biomedical Journals (N Eng J Med, 1997; 336:309-15). The computer printed versions are to be sent to the editors in two copies. The manuscript should be typewritten on a white paper of the size A4 with no more than 30 lines on it, double spaced. Margins: 2.5 at top, bottom, right and left. Text should be written with 12-point typeface. The manuscript should include: title page, summary page (Polish and English), key words (Polish and English), text acknowledgements, references, tables and figures. The following pages must be numbered including the title page. Use only standard abbreviations. Avoid abbreviations in the title and abstract. The full term for which an abbreviation stands should precede its first use in the text unless it is standard unit for measurement.

ORIGINAL PAPERS SHOULD INCLUDE:

TITLE PAGE. Should include full title of the article both in Polish and English, first names and second names for the authors, the name of the university school that the paper comes from; the first name, the second name and academic degree of the academic responsible for the correspondence. Additionally there should be information about source(s) of support in the form of the grant and the present job information of the authors.

SUMMARY. Both in Polish and English it should consist of 150-250 words. In the original paper there should be parts as follows: background, materials and methods, results, conclusions. Under the summary there should be 3-10 key words both in Polish and English. The use of the items according to Medical Subject Headings is advised.

TEXT. The text of the article should be divided into paragraphs labeled: background, material and method, results, discussion, conclusions, and the text should be divided into passages containing compact content. Review papers can be divided in a different way. The suggested volume of the article cannot be exceeded: original papers-3000 words, review paper-6000, case study-2000, the letter-1000. above mentioned limits do not include summary, tables, references. Additional information and acknowledgements can be placed at the end of the text, before the references. The original papers must be approved by the academic who is responsible for the research.

REFERENCES. They must be numbered consecutively as they are cited not in the alphabetic order. The abbreviations of the papers should be used according to Index Medicus. Each item started from the new verse should be numbered and contain: the name(s) and the initials of the author(s) name, the title of the article, the name of the paper where it was published (the abbreviations of the papers should be compliant with Index Medicus, the edition year, the volume number in Arabic numerals, number of copy, opening and last page number. If there are more than seven authors, the name of the first three should be given followed by an ``et al`` annotation. The references within the text should be in Arabic numerals and in brackets. In case of quotation there should be stated: the following number of position, the author, the title, the publisher, the place and the year of edition. Referring to the content of the paper it should be given: the name of the author, his/her initials, title of the paragraph, the name of the author/editor, name initials, the title of the book, the publisher, place and year of edition, number of pages.

DIAGRAMS, FIGURES, SLIDES, BLACK-WHITE AND COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS. They should be in a separate envelope, numbered, printed and labeled with the name and second name of the author, also with the title of the article with indication ``up`` and ``down``. Their descriptions should be given on a separate piece of paper with table number with Arabic numerals. Photographs should be glossy prints, 13 cm x 18 cm (5.12 inc x 7.09 in) till 15 cm x 20 cm (5.91 on x 7.87 in). To photographs there should be attached written agreement for republishing.

TABLES. Each on a separate page should be numbered in Roman numerals and precede by their titles. The tables descriptions are to be printed on a separate page with the tables numbers in Roman numerals.

ELECTRONIC RECORD OF THE TEXT. There should be attached data carrier to computer print. The editor accept CD-ROMS and DVD-ROMS. The description of the data should contain the name and second name of the author and also the title of the article. Texts and graphics should constitute their own files. Don’t paste pictures and graphics to the text files. The Editors advises the following text editors: Star Office, Word, Word Perfect. The photographs should be in JPG format, diagrams in Microsoft Excel, tables in Microsoft Word and figures in EPS or JPG format. The preferred resolution photographs: 300 DPI. In case of scanning small elements the resolution should be higher (preferred 600 DPI).

SENDING THE MANUSCRIPT TO THE JOURNAL.

The authors are requested to send 2 (two) copies of the manuscript. Send the required number of copies of the manuscript in a heavy paper envelope, enclosing the copies and figures in cardboard if necessary to prevent photographs from being bent. Manuscripts must be accompanied by a covering letter signed by all the authors. This must include: information on prior or duplicate publication or submission elsewhere; paper is approved by all the authors and managers of the centers where they were written; the requirements for authorship accepted by all the authors; all source of financing have been revealed; the authors(s) know the rules of publication and they will obey them.

THE ARTICLES CAN BE SENT VIA E-MAIL: amfal@pro.onet.pl. It is advised that all parts of the article (text, illustration, tables, photographs etc) should be sent as a separate files. To speed up the data transfer please compress the files if possible using *zip format before transmission. The material sent in ,together with the review, remain among the documentation of the Board of editors. The publisher purchases, on the basis of exclusiveness, the whole of the copyrights for the published papers (including CD-ROMS disks or others and in the Internet). Reprinting the summaries is allowed without a written permission.
