Almost from the very beginning the treatment of this permanent disease is based on aerosols, despite changes in definition of asthma bronchiale. Development of pharmacology, and technology provides us wide variety of modern drugs with good therapeutic index, and characterized by big choice between different delivery devices: jet nebulizers (N), pressure metered dose inhaler (pMDI), pMDI plus holding chambers - spacers (pMDI+S), pMDI plus ease breath system (pMDI+EB) and dry powder inhalers (DPI). For young children (up to 6 years of age), the major usage are N and pMDI+S.
During the therapeutic process the most important factor is choice of the most adequate inhaler due to patient’s needs. In the last year’s clinical investigations, one of the main factors, which effects on the final choice are economical costs of whole therapy. The others factors are: theoretic data, clinical trials, GMP, own experience, patients education and compliance.
