Asthma is the most common chronic childhood disease. Experts from the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology have compiled a consensus focused exclusively on pediatric asthma. The consensus is intended for family physicians and pediatricians. The recommendations for diagnosis, practical management and monitoring of childhood asthma, especially in the youngest children are presented in a very concise way. The paper describes practical aspects based on the consensus, especially treatment algorithms based on child age and asthma phenotypes.
