Introduction: The antihistaminics H1 of the second genereation are drugs of first choice in allergic upper airways diseases, and allergic conjunctvitis. The efficacy in controlling symptoms is smilar, but there are significant individual differences determining the response to the therapy. The aim of the study was to get to know patients’ opinion of antihistaminics and to compare them, asses an efficacy and side effects of antihistaminics and create a strategy for treatment with antihistaminics.
Material and methods: Questionnaire research. 63 respondents treated with Cetirizine dihydrochloride (0,01 g), Loratadine (0,01 g), or Fexofenadine hydrochloridae (0,12 g).
Results: 60% of respondents complained of side effects. Men were generally much more satisfied from treatment than women. Cetirizine more often caused weight gain than Loratadine (p<0,05). 34% took drugs regularly.
Conclusions: The antihistaminics H1 of the second generation do not have a good opinion among patients. Treatment of allergic diseases should begin from Loratadine.
