Results of recent epidemiological studies indicate that allergic diseases occur in approximately 30–40% of Polish inhabitants. Treatment of allergic diseases involves avoiding exposure to the allergen, pharmacotherapy and specific immunotherapy.

Allergen immunotherapy is a safe therapeutic method based on administration of allergen extract to sensitized patients in order to relieve symptoms caused by re-exposure to the allergen. Immunotherapy is the only treatment of proven effectiveness which may alter the natural course of the disease, reduce its severity and necessity of frequent anti-allergic drug administration.
